Head of Department
The Head of the Department for the Planning and Coordination of Economic Policy (DIPE) provides impetus and coordination for the Department’s activity and looks after its functioning and organization.
He is directly responsible for the three general management Offices and the four Technical Units. The Head of the Department avails himself of a Legal Counsellor, supported by advisors nominated by a decree issued by the President of the Council of Ministers, and a departmental Secretary's office.
The Head of the DIPE is Paolo Emilio Signorini. Born in Genoa 47 years ago, he studied at the Political Sciences Faculty of Florence University and at the Yale Law School.
He began his career at the Bank of Italy. He later worked at the Ministry for the Economy and Finance, where he became general manager in 2002, and at the Ministry for Infrastructure. He was appointed Head of the DIPE in May 2008.
He is the author of several articles on the planning and implementation of public investments in Italy and abroad.
